Ionized Acid Water and Acne
Acne is extremely common and affects more then 40 million individuals in the United States. Acne can be found in every age group, but does affect teenagers the most. Many treatment options for acne currently exist, and a significant amount of money is spent by Americans each year on prescription and nonprescription medications. These treatments have limitations and can cause a great deal of skin irritation, such as peeling, dryness, stinging, burning, and photosensitivity. That is why an effective, safe, nonirritating, and easy to use modality is highly desirable and needed. Studies have been done using electrolyzed oxidized water, like the acid water out of our True Water Bar, to offer potential treatment for mild to moderate acne. The study showed that there was a 49.1% reduction in the number of inflammatory lesions. During the study patients use the acid water, a pH level of 3-5 pH, twice daily to clean their faces for 8 weeks. 50% of the patients reported a moderate improvement after 8 weeks and 75% of the patients preferred using the acidic water over conventional forms of treatment.
